The International Collective in Support of Moroccan Families Expelled from Algeria in 1975 (CiMEA) convened in Rabat on November 15, 2024, to discuss the progress of the study Mémoire des Marocains expulsés d'Algérie en 1975. Conducted in partnership with the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME), the study, led by students from the Faculty of Meknes under the guidance of Professor Mimoun Aziza, seeks to document the experiences and stories of those affected by this humanitarian and legal tragedy.

The meeting also addressed preparations for the 50th anniversary of the 1975 expulsion, to be marked in 2025. The commemorative program will include national and international initiatives aimed at preserving the memory of the event and raising public awareness. Members of the collective reaffirmed their dedication to advocating for the victims’ rights at both national and international levels, calling on Algerian authorities to acknowledge the violations committed in 1975, issue a formal apology, and provide compensation to the affected families.

Founded in 2021, CiMEA also campaigns for the return of confiscated property and the reunification of Moroccan families still divided between the two countries. The collective underscored the importance of a strong media strategy and academic research to raise awareness of the issue while condemning the Algerian authorities' disinformation campaigns and silence on this historic tragedy.
