Morocco's National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST) Director General, Abdellatif Hammouchi, received on Monday in Rabat the Administrator General of Belgian State Security, Francisca Bostyn, who was leading a high-ranking security delegation on a working visit to the Kingdom.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review and examine various internal security issues of common interest to Morocco and Belgium, namely ways of countering terrorist threats and risks regionally and internationally, particularly in the sub-Saharan Sahel region, the DGSN-DGST said in a press release.
On this occasion, the Belgian official welcomed the distinguished and advanced level of security cooperation with the Moroccan security services in the fight against terrorism and extremism, expressing her country's willingness to consolidate this cooperation to neutralize the threats to the security of both countries.
The two parties also stressed the importance of expanding areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries' internal security services and facilitating procedures for exchanging information and sharing expertise and experience in order to raise the level of the security partnership between Morocco and Belgium.
The meeting is part of a series of discussions held between Morocco's National Security and Territorial Surveillance Director General and his counterparts from friendly and brotherly countries, aimed at enhancing cooperation in the police field and strengthening coordination on internal security issues and related emerging threats.
This visit illustrates the privileged position occupied by the Kingdom of Morocco in the international fight against terrorism and reflects the credibility enjoyed by the Moroccan security services with their European partners as a key player in joint efforts to preserve global security and stability.
