Rabat has signed a contract with Acento, the public affairs consultancy firm of former socialist minister José Blanco. This time, it is an urgent matter, as the Spanish lobbyist will advocate for the interests of Moroccan farmers in Brussels. According to information reported by Africa Intelligence, José Blanco's firm was reportedly solicited by Morocco's ambassador to Spain in Madrid, Karima Benyaich. The value of the contract remains unknown.
Acento Public Affairs will defend Rabat's interests for the second time before European bodies. According to data available on the specialized portal Lobby Facts, Acento represented the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) in Brussels from 2022 to 2023 for an amount between 500,000 and 600,000 euros. AMCI's goal was to promote Morocco's South-South cooperation funds with sub-Saharan African countries. This notably involved defending Moroccan interests on security issues in the Mediterranean and the Maghreb.
The consulting firm, whose main client is Morocco, has several notable clients, such as the Chinese multinational Huawei Technologies, the cosmetics manufacturer ISDIN, the Spanish National Professional Football League, and the pharmaceutical company Pharmamar.
