On Monday, April 14, the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), and the Digital Development Agency (ADD) signed a strategic partnership agreement to advance digital transformation. The agreement was formalized during the third edition of the GITEX Africa exhibition, held from April 14 to 16, 2025, in Marrakech. It aligns with royal directives and the goals of the Digital Morocco 2030 strategy. According to an official statement, the aim is to «accelerate innovation in the travel sector» and «position Morocco as a key hub for TravelTech on the African continent».
The same source states that «the agreement is based on three major pillars essential to the digital transformation of the aviation sector». One of the pillars includes the joint promotion of GITEX Africa, with RAM serving as the event’s official carrier. «This collaboration will provide increased visibility for the national airline while offering preferential pricing to participants and African startups», the statement adds.
In addition, the parties have committed to supporting the Moroccan TravelTech ecosystem by identifying, promoting, and assisting innovative startups specializing in travel and air transport. This support will take shape through initiatives such as the RAM Digital Open Innovation program, regional roadshows, mentorship programs, and the creation of a national TravelTech Innovator label.
The partnership also includes knowledge-sharing and co-innovation efforts through training programs, experience exchange, and the co-development of solutions, aiming to foster collaboration between public institutions, private companies, and startups.
Finally, the agreement provides for concrete actions to accelerate the digitalization of private sector players in the travel industry. This includes making platforms like Moukawala Raqmya and Academia Raqmya available to businesses, along with organizing awareness workshops to strengthen their digital capabilities.
