The Casablanca School of Architecture and Landscape (EAC) celebrated its 20th anniversary with a symbolic ceremony held at the Church of the Sacred Heart. The event also marked the graduation of the 13th class of architects and landscape designers, in a festive yet purpose-driven atmosphere.
Founded in 2004 as a state initiative, EAC has, since its inception, embraced a bold pedagogical approach: crossing disciplines, fostering dialogue between cultures, and placing people and the land at the core of its teaching. «Twenty years later, that boldness remains our guiding compass», said its General Director, Dr. Ahmed Laaroussi.
With 350 graduates, 400 current students, and a faculty representing 20 nationalities, the school has become a national and international benchmark. Recognized by the Moroccan state since 2017 and a member of the Honoris United Universities network since 2018, EAC combines strong local roots with global outreach. In 2023, its Landscape Architecture program received recognition from the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA), underscoring its commitment to sustainable cities.
The anniversary celebration featured a roundtable discussion on the role of architects in society, moderated by Karim Dronet, with contributions from Mohamed Fikri BenAbdallah, Mounia Bennani, and Lotfi Sidi Rahal.
A key announcement during the event was the upcoming opening of a new branch on the Honoris campus in Casa Anfa, envisioned as a space for urban experimentation, complementing the school’s historic site.
The 13th graduating class was named in honor of Mourad Ben Embarek (1939–2011), a pioneering figure in Moroccan architecture—thus inaugurating a new annual tradition of dedicating each class to a notable architect.
With this celebration, EAC reaffirmed its mission: to train committed builders ready to meet the challenges of land and society.
