Patricia del Pozo, Minister of Culture and Sports in the Andalusian government, revealed that the Alhambra Palace’s ticketing platform has been targeted by sophisticated cyberattacks originating from Russia, China, and Morocco.
Speaking during a parliamentary session where she was questioned about the management of this iconic historical site, Del Pozo explained that the attacks involved the use of advanced bots and digital tools designed to disrupt the platform’s electronic systems. These intrusions, she noted, pose a serious threat to ticket sales and the quality of services offered to visitors.
She added that efforts are underway between the Alhambra Board of Trustees, the company managing the ticketing system, and the Andalusian Digital Agency to strengthen cybersecurity. Measures include the implementation of advanced monitoring tools to detect suspicious automated activity and prevent fraud.
Located in Granada, southern Spain, the Alhambra is one of the world’s most renowned historical and artistic landmarks. A masterpiece of Islamic architecture in Andalusia, the site includes palaces, gardens, and fortresses, and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
