The Ministry of the Interior has launched its annual update of the electoral rolls, a process that will run until December 31, 2025. The initiative concerns «citizens who are not yet registered but meet the legal requirements and are at least 18 years old, or who will turn 18 by March 31, 2026». Eligible individuals may submit their registration requests to the local administrative authorities of their place of residence or online at www.listeselectorales.ma, the ministry said in a press release.
«Citizens who have changed their place of residence must, within the same period, request the transfer of their registration to the electoral roll of the municipality or district corresponding to their new address».
Those who have moved within the same municipality or district must also notify the relevant administrative authority, within the same timeframe, to update their address on the electoral roll.
Moroccan citizens already registered may verify their personal information with the local authorities in their new place of residence or by sending a free SMS to 2727.
On Thursday evening, the Committee on the Interior, Local Government, Housing, Urban Policy, and Administrative Affairs in the House of Representatives approved, by majority vote, draft organic law No. 27.11. In the presence of Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, the text received 19 votes in favor, one against, and four abstentions.
As a reminder, King Mohammed VI urged in his Throne Day speech on July 29 that the government and Parliament finalize the new electoral laws before the end of the year.
