Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi will appear before the Versailles Court of Appeal on Friday in a bid to have the rape case against him dismissed, according to AFP citing a source close to the case.
If the appeal is rejected and the charges are not downgraded, Hakimi will stand trial at a later date yet to be determined.
The 27-year-old Paris Saint-Germain defender is facing trial over allegations made by a 24-year-old woman in February 2023. The latter told police in the Val-de-Marne area, southeast of Paris, that Hakimi raped her after the two met through Instagram.
Hakimi was formally charged, placed under judicial supervision, and referred to trial in February 2026. The player denies all allegations.
During earlier proceedings, Hakimi’s lawyer, Fanny Colin, argued that the accusations rested solely on the complainant’s testimony and claimed she had refused medical examinations, DNA tests, and to identify key witnesses.
