Morocco braces for Saturday-to-Tuesday heatwave with temperatures reaching 44°C

A heatwave and hot weather conditions are expected from Saturday to Tuesday in several provinces across the Kingdom, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).

The provinces of Tata, Es-Semara, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Oued Eddahab, Aousserd, Tarfaya, Tan-Tan, Taroudant and Laâyoune are expected to experience a heatwave with temperatures ranging between 41°C and 44°C from Saturday to Tuesday, the DGM said in an orange-level weather alert bulletin.

The same phenomenon, with temperatures ranging from 37°C to 41°C, will also affect during the same period the provinces of Sidi Slimane, Rhamna, Nouaceur, Khemisset, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, Béni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknès, Khénifra, Fès, Kénitra, Sidi Kacem, Benslimane, Berrechid, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Marrakech, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Larache, Ouezzane, Essaouira and Safi.

In addition, the DGM said that the provinces of Agadir-Idaoutanane, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Tiznit, Rabat, Salé and Skhirate-Témara will experience hot weather on Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures ranging from 37°C to 41°C, while temperatures between 34°C and 37°C are expected during the same period in Sidi Ifni, Casablanca, Mediouna, Mohammedia and El Jadida.
