The Bab Rmila natural and tourist site, located in the commune of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, is undergoing redevelopment and enhancement works as part of efforts to strengthen the tourism and cultural appeal of the Fez-Meknes Region and preserve its historical and architectural heritage.

The project aims to breathe new life into the site through the rehabilitation of public spaces, the upgrading of basic infrastructure and the beautification of the urban environment. According to the Fez-Meknes Regional Council, the initiative seeks to highlight Bab Rmila’s historical and tourism potential while providing a more functional and welcoming setting for both residents and visitors.

The works include improving access routes, refurbishing roads and pedestrian areas, upgrading public lighting and enhancing the site’s heritage value, while respecting its historical and cultural identity.

The project is being carried out by the Fez-Meknes Regional Project Implementation Agency (AREP) as part of an integrated development strategy aimed at boosting the region’s tourism and cultural attractiveness, improving public spaces and living conditions, and supporting local economic and tourism activity.

The initiative also aims to preserve and promote the region’s historical and architectural heritage while encouraging sustainable territorial development for the benefit of local communities.
