Morocco opened its 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Brazil on Saturday evening at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, as part of the opening round of Group C matches at the tournament, which is being co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
The Atlas Lions took the lead in the 21st minute through Ismael Saibari, before Vinícius Júnior equalized for Brazil in the 32nd minute.
The result leaves both Morocco and Brazil with one point in Group C. The group's other opening match, between Scotland and Haiti, is scheduled to take place later on Saturday.
Morocco will face Scotland on June 19 in its second group-stage match, while Brazil will take on Haiti.
