In recent days, unofficial reports have been swirling about the supposed dismissal of Massad Boulos, the special adviser to President Donald Trump on Arab and African affairs. Boulos himself has refuted these claims.
«Some media outlets are spreading the baseless claim that I am seeking an ambassadorial post in the United Arab Emirates», stated the White House in-law on X.
«I remain in my position. It is an honor to serve President Trump as senior adviser and to help implement his peace initiatives in Africa and across the Arab world. I am fully committed to this mission, working to resolve conflicts, save lives, and promote prosperity in many regions.»
Outlets aligned with the Polisario celebrated the alleged dismissal, citing it as a result of Boulos' «failure» on the Western Sahara issue.
Boulos countered these rumors, stating they are «based on unfounded speculation or deliberate lies. These allegations are completely false.»
As the Trump administration’s chief mediator on the Sahara issue, Boulos has engaged in continuous discussions with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, both via telephone and during visits to Algiers. He has encouraged participation in talks on the Sahara as a stakeholder, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2797, adopted on October 31, 2025.
