SIAM 2017 : Water makes part of the 9th edition of agricultural talks

On the occasion of the 12th edition of the International Exhibition of agriculture held annually in Meknes, the 9th edition of «Assises de l’agriculture» will be organized on the 17th of April as La Vie Eco reports.

These talks aim to discuss and review the Moroccan green plan on agriculture during the SIAM organized from the 18th to the 23rd of April. This assembly will bring together actors of the private and public agricultural sector to shed light on the sustainability of agriculture in the Kingdom with a theme entitled «Agriculture et securité alimentaire au fil de l’eau».

According to the organizers : «demand for water will increase in the world by 20% in 2050, the problem needs a long term strategy to manage the water resources». Many plans were set up to raise awareness on the matter and incentivize mobilization.   

SIAM will operate this year under the theme of «agriculture and sustainable agricultural value chains», a question to which the ministry in charge «meets the global imperative to reconcile economy, food security and sustainability of the agricultural system.»

The international exhibition of agriculture will honor Italy in its 12th edition and its strong bilateral ties with Morocco that dates back to 1960 ; time when a technical and financial cooperation between the two countries was signed.
