Kenya has openly announced its support for the Moroccan bid for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, said Business Day on Wednesday quoting Reuters and AFP.
«Kenya will be firmly behind Morocco’s bid for the 2026 World Cup, since the whole of Africa is for Morocco», said Football Kenya Federation chief Nick Mwendwa when receiving a Moroccan delegation led by Nigerian former international striker Daniel Amokachi.
«We have worked closely with the Moroccan Football Federation since we came into office in 2016,» he added.
Morocco which is competing against the North American bid led by the United States has already got the support of influential African nations such as Nigeria, South Africa and Algeria.
Outside the continent, the Kingdom’s bid received the backing of European, Asian and even North American countries.
