In a surprising account, president of the Guinean football federation Antonio Souaré said that he did not vote for the North American bid, Wednesday 13th of June, in a FIFA congress held in Russia, reports Football 365.

«I did not vote for the United bid», Souaré told French-speaking magazine Jeune Afrique. The official who was chosen as an ambassador for the Moroccan candidacy added : «There must be a mistake, perhaps a technical one».

Antonio Souaré was not the only one to speak about the situation, president of the Lebanese Football Federation Jihad Ashahf told media that he voted for the North African bid, presented by Morocco to host the 2026 World Cup.

«There must be something wrong», he told Football Lebanon.

Guinea and Lebanon appeared both on the list of the 134 countries that backed the North American joint bid.

Only 65 federations voted for Morocco. In the Arab World, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Jordan preferred to support United States, Mexico and Canada.
