In a video published Thursday, 30th of August, Ahmed Zefzafi announced that his son, Nasser Zefzafi, is currently going on a hunger and thirst strike. The father of Hirak figure held in the Casablanca local prison and serving a 20-year-long sentence, was informed by his son through a phone call.
On the phone, Nasser Zefzafi sent a message to members of his family and NGOs, calling them not to try to convince him to stop the strike.
Nasser asked his father to bury him when he dies in the Rif, adding that he doesn’t want to «live in this country that made him lose his dignity, despised and tortured him».
Since the day he was sentenced, three months ago, he spent the majority of his days «in his cell», said the father. He prefers «to go to a world where there is no injustice, a world of democracy and freedom where rights are guaranteed».
Since his arrest in 2017, Hirak detainees held in the Casablanca prison have been going on hunger strikes to protest against their conditions.
