The Moroccan authorities prevented, Monday January the 14th, Spanish jurist Luis Mangrané from entering Laayoune, reports El Diario Aragon quoting the Aragonese Observatory for Western Sahara.
He had arrived in the Moroccan city through the Canary Islands. «Customs at the airport of Laayoune prevented the man from entering the city, considering that he was a persona non grata in Morocco», the Observatory added.
Luis Mangrané was expected to visit, as an international human rights observer, the trial of the young Sahrawi Brahim Dehani, a member of the Sahrawi Association of Victims of Grave Violations of Human Rights Committed by the Moroccan State (ASVDH), which was held on Wednesday January the 16th.
The young man was arrested on December the 4th, 2018, «while he was reporting a peaceful Sahrawi demonstration in Laayoune, held during the Geneva round table that was attended by the Polisario and Morocco», the Observatory said.
«Brahim Dehani, duly identified as a photographer of the ASVDH, was arrested while taking photos of the violent actions carried out by the Moroccan police against the protesters. He his camera was confiscated and he was transferred to a police station. On December the 18th, he was released on bail», the same source added.
