The Polisario Front has sent M’Hamed Khaddad to Mauritania. The Polisario’s coordinator with Minurso handed over on Monday, March the 11th, a letter from Brahim Ghali to the Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, reports Mauritanian press agency AMI.

At the end of their meeting, Khaddad told Mauritania’s official news agency that he «informed» Ould Abdel Aziz about the «efforts made by the international community to help achieve a just and long-lasting solution for the Sahrawi question».

For the record, Mauritania has not been summoned yet by the UN personal envoy to Western Sahara Horst Köhler to attend consultations, prior to the second round-table on the Western Sahara issue.

This visit comes after the Polisario Front announced last week that its representatives held a meeting with Köhler on the 4th and 5th of March in Berlin, Germany. Meanwhile, while Morocco and Algeria remained silent about their meetings with the former German president.

Moroccan diplomatic sources, quoted by several news platforms in the Kingdom, revealed that the Moroccan delegation, led by Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita, met on the 27th and 28th of February with the UN personal envoy in Paris.

On the other hand, Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel headed a delegation to Berlin, where he held talks with Köhler on March the 2nd.
