Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Morocco Abdellah Ben Saad Al Ghariri was received, Tuesday, by the spokesperson of the Moroccan government Mustapha El Khalfi.

It is the first time that the diplomat meets a member of Saadeddine El Othmani’s cabinet and a member of the Justice and Development party, knowing that relations between Saudi Arabia and the Islamist party have been tense, since the fall of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi in 2013.

Two weeks ago, the Saudi ambassador to Rabat met successively with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Habib El Malki, Speaker of the House of Councilors Hakim Benchamach and Minister of Justice Mohamed Aujjar.

In June 2018, Morocco’s Interior Minister said in Riyadh that the Kingdom is ready to «strengthen coordination and cooperation between the Interior ministries of the two countries, especially when it comes to security».

In October 2018, King Mohammed VI received the new Saudi Interior Minister, Prince Abdelaziz Ben Saud bin Nayef Ben Abdelaziz.
