A men's professional senior golf tour organizer has signed a five-year agreement with Morocco to hold a tournament in the country by the beginning of 2020, Reuters reports.

The golf tournament will be played in January in Marrakech at the Samanah Golf Club. The event will include 66 players, who will compete for a total prize of $2 million. According to the same source, the tournament will be the first «PGA Tour-sanctioned stroke-play» of its kind in Africa and Morocco.

«As we enter 2020, the globalization of golf is at an all-time high and it’s important for us to look at opportunities to bring these legends of the game to fans around the world. The Morocco Champions will allow us to do just that and we’re eager to build a tremendous debut tournament», president of the Champions Tour Miller Brady said.
