Morocco’s men’s beach volleyball team, represented by the duo El Gharouti/Walid, won the title on Saturday in Martil at the 31st edition of the Arab Beach Volleyball Championship.

The Moroccan pair defeated Bahrain’s Nasser/Aljishi in the final by two sets to one.

After dropping the opening set 20-22, the Moroccans turned the match around, taking the second and third sets 21-16 and 15-10 to retain their title on home soil in front of their supporters.

The triumph capped an impressive run by the national team throughout the competition, confirming Morocco’s status among the leading Arab nations in the sport.

In the semi-final, El Gharouti/Walid had beaten the Egyptian team of George/Paulo, who went on to finish fourth after losing the third-place playoff to Morocco’s other team, Elgraoui/El Azhari.

In the women’s draw, Egypt’s Doaa Elghobashy/Marwa Magdy claimed the title at the 21st edition of the Arab Championship, defeating Morocco’s Imane Yakki/Noura Darrhal in straight sets in the final, 21-18, 21-11.

Third place went to another Moroccan team, Dina/Alexandra Erhart, who beat their Egyptian counterparts in the playoff match in two sets, 21-16, 21-12.

Organized by the Royal Moroccan Volleyball Federation (FRMVB) under the aegis of the Arab Volleyball Association, the competition was held from July 13 to 19 in a highly competitive atmosphere, with several Arab teams taking part, including Morocco, Bahrain, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and Iraq.
