Morocco’s Nawal El Moutawakel reelected as a member of the IAAF Council

Former Moroccan hurdler Nawal El Moutawakel was reelected, Wednesday, as a member of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Council, reports MAP news agency.

El Moutawakil’s election was announced as Britain’s Sebastian was unanimously re-elected as president of IAAF.

In addition to the former Moroccan athlete, IAAF’s Council includes other names, namely Hiroshi Yokokawa, Antti Pihlakoski, Anna Riccardi, Nan Wang, Adille Sumariwalla, Abby Hoffman, Sylvia Barlag, Alberto Juantorena, Willie Banks, Raul Chapado, Dobromir Karamarinov and Beatrice Ayikoru.

At this Congress, held two days before the opening of IAAF World Championships in, Nawal El Moutawakel, who has been a member of the IAAF Council since 1995, had 120 votes. She is, at the same time, the only Arab woman member of this international body.
