Bombardier’s unit in Morocco has been sold to the world’s first-tier aerostructures manufacturer Spirit AeroSystems, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy said in a communiqué sent Thursday to Yabiladi.

The acquisition agreement was signed five months after the Canadian firm put its factories in Casablanca and Belfast (Northern Ireland) up for sale in an attempt to consolidate its aerospace business into a single hub.

The Morocco factory «will continue to supply structural aircraft components and spare parts to support the production and in-service fleet of Bombardier Aviation's Learjet, Challenger and Global families of aircraft», Spirit said.

Earlier in October, Spirit AeroSystems emerged as leading bidder to acquire Bombardier’s units in Morocco and Northern Ireland.
