The Moroccan embassy in Nouakchott announced on Saturday that it had taken care of 60 Moroccan citizens stranded in Mauritania, as part of the measures taken to monitor the conditions of members of the Moroccan community residing in the neighboring country.

In a press release sent to MAP, the embassy indicated that 28 Moroccans were stranded in Nouakchott and 32 in the city of Nouadhibou (northern Mauritania).

No Covid-19 infection has been recorded among the Moroccan community residing in the country nor among stranded citizens in Mauritania, it said.

The embassy also stressed that its services raised awareness among Moroccan truck drivers. It once again urged all Moroccan citizens residing in Mauritania to strictly respect the decisions and the preventive measures taken by the Mauritanian authorities to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

For the record, the Moroccan embassy in Nouakchott announced, on March 16, the establishment of a communication and monitoring unit for members of the Moroccan community residing in Mauritania.

The Mauritanian Ministry of Health announced on Saturday the recovery of all confirmed cases of the new coronavirus (Covid-19) in the country. The daily report revealed by the ministry on the situation of the pandemic in the country reports seven confirmed cases of the new coronavirus (4 women and 3 men), specifying that 6 people recovered, while only one died.
