A group of 28 South Africans, stranded for nine weeks in Morocco due to the coronavirus crisis, has finally been brought back home. The plane that flew for 20 hours landed, Sunday, at the O.R. Tambo International Airport, South Africa's biggest airport.
The flight carried 74 South Africans, including 28 stuck in Morocco, 17 from Ivory Coast, 10 from Burkina Faso, 12 from Mauritania and seven from the Congo, News24 reported.
«I cannot explain what it was like to land in each country, and welcome on board new groups of relieved South Africans. I will remember this forever», one of the repatriated South Africans told the newspaper.
According to the same source, the group repatriated Sunday is added to the 5,000 South Africans that had been brought home by air from various parts of the world since the start of the pandemic.
