Morocco records 24 new coronavirus cases, 7,601 in total

Twenty-four new coronavirus cases were recorded in Morocco over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the kingdom to 7,601, the Ministry of Health said Wednesday.

Twelve cases were discovered in the Casablanca-Settat region, five in Tangier-Tetouan-Al-Hoceima, two in Fez-Meknes and Rabat-Salé-Kenitra and one case in the regions of Marrakech-Safi, Beni Mellal-Khenifra and Souss Massa, said Dr Mouad Mrabet, coordinator of the National Center for Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health, in a statement broadcast by MAP on its M24 TV channel and RIM radio.

A total of 97 Covid-19 patients have recovered over the given period, which brings the number of cured people to 4,978, he said, noting that the recovery rate has reached 65.5%.

No new coronavirus-related death was reported over the past 24 hours and the number of fatalities remains at 202, Mrabet pointed out, adding that the mortality rate remains stable at 2.7%.

The number of Covid-19 active cases stands now at 2,421, i.e. a rate of 6.7% for every 100,000 inhabitants, he said.
