The French consular services in Morocco will resume activities on June 29, the French Embassy told MAP on Thursday.
«Activities by the French consular services in Morocco will gradually resume as of June 29, 2020», said the diplomatic mission through its spokesperson, Sameh Safty.
Under the gradual resumption, Safty said initially only long-stay visa applications will be processed, «and not short-term visas, known as Schengen».
The long stay visa allows foreigners to stay in France for a longer period (more than 3 months). It is issued for studies, work or for family reasons.
The short-stay visa, in accordance with the European Community law, known as Schengen, allows foreigners to cross borders and stay in France for short periods (less than 3 months). These are visas for tourism, business trips, family or private visits.
In parallel, the resumption of other consular activities will also be done gradually, and will concern the Administration of the French (passports), civil status (birth - death), by appointment, said the same source, stressing that the social divisions are already operational.
