The Public Prosecutor at the Kenitra Court of Appeal has ordered the opening of a judicial investigation into the causes and circumstances of the spread of Covid-19 within three Red fruit packaging units in the Lalla Mimouna region.

The opening of this investigation, which was entrusted to the national brigade of the Royal Gendarmerie, was ordered after consulting the administrative investigation carried out on this case by the joint commission of the Ministries of Interior, Health, Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests and Labor and Professional Integration, said a statement from the public prosecutor.

The objective of the judicial investigation is to determine the criminal offenses which caused the Covid-19 contamination of several agricultural employees, in particular negligence, failure to take the measures necessary for their protection or non-compliance with laws and regulations, notably the legal and organic provisions relating to preventive measures and barrier rules decided by the public authorities during the state of health emergency, added the statement.

The investigation also aims to determine responsibilities in order to specify the appropriate legal impact, the same source concluded.
