The Errachidia judicial police seized, Wednesday, one ton of chira at a farm on the outskirts of the city of Errachidia, said the national police (DGSN).
This security operation, which was conducted in an agricultural farm located in the rural municipality of Amellago, a few kilometers from the city of Errachidia, on the basis of precise information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), resulted in the seizure of 40 bundles of chira with a total weight of one ton, said the DGSN in a statement.
During this operation, a 44-year-old individual was arrested for his alleged involvement in the possession and trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances, according to the same source.
The police also seized three cars whose origin and legal status are currently being identified, as well as bottles of alcoholic beverages, a cutlass and several cell phones used in this criminal activity, added the statement.
The suspect has been placed in police custody to complete the preliminary investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office to determine the possible ramifications of this criminal activity and possible alleged accomplices, concluded the DGSN.
