Spain has refused to hold a meeting initiated by the 43rd edition of the «European Conference of Solidarity and Support for the Sahrawi People». The decision was taken to maintain good diplomatic relations with the kingdom of Morocco.
In the last months, the number of Spanish senior officials visiting Morocco has surprisingly increased. These visits come as Morocco is dealing with several issues related to migration, security and smuggling.
On October the 29th, 1956, Ahmed Balafrej, who headed the Moroccan diplomacy at the time, signed the Final Decleration of the International Conference of Tangier. The treaty put an end of the city’s international statute.
