Former White House senior adviser Jared Kushner and the former assistant to the President and Special Representative for International Negotiations Avi Berkowitz were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, Sunday, for their role in brokering four normalization deals between Israel and Arab nations, Reuters reported.
Kushner and Berkowitz owe their nomination to American attorney Alan Dershowitz, who was eligible to do so in his capacity as a professor emeritus of Harvard Law School.
Kushner, who is the son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump, and Berkowitz, who was the US administration's envoy to the Middle East, contributed to the conclusion of agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.
The deals were announced within four months between mid-August and mid-December and were the most significant diplomatic breakthroughs in the Middle East in 25 years.
In a press release, Jared Kushner said he was honored to be nominated for the award, which will be presented in October.
