On Saturday morning, two Royal Air Maroc (RAM) planes flew to China, to load additional batches of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine developed by Sinopharm.

The flights are expected to carry a large quantity of doses, after a last acquisition on April 30. That day, Morocco received 500,000 doses of said vaccine. These deliveries are part of the 10 million doses that China has promised to deliver to Morocco between April and May.

So far, the number of doses purchased by the kingdom from Sinopharm and Serum Institute Of India totaled 9.5 million. The delivery of May 8 comes following the approval of the Chinese vaccine by the WHO, which could speed up deliveries in the coming days.

Also this Saturday, the Moroccan Ministry of Health announced that the national vaccination campaign against the new coronavirus is extended to cover the age group of 50 to 55 years old.
