Led by Moroccan coach Houcine Ammouta, the Jordanian national football team has made history by reaching the semifinals of the Asian Cup for the first time ever. They secured their place with a 1-0 victory over Tajikistan in the quarterfinals of the tournament’s 26th edition held in Qatar.

Abdallah Nasib scored the winning goal in the 66th minute, deflecting a corner kick into the Tajik net. The team will now face the winner of the Australia vs. South Korea quarterfinal match in the semifinals.

Jordan entered the knockout stage as one of the four best third-placed teams from the group stage, having earned 4 points with a win over Malaysia (4-0), a draw against South Korea (2-2), and a loss to Bahrain (1-0). In the Round of 16, they delivered a thrilling 3-2 win over Iraq in the dying moments of the game.
