Police in Berkane arrested, Tuesday, two individuals, including a Lebanese national, suspected of attacking digital data processing systems and hacking phone calls, according to a security source.
Preliminary investigation data reveals the involvement of the suspects in hacking national communication networks, using a criminal modus operandi that involves using electronic devices to divert international phone calls to the local network and generate revenue from the tariff difference, the same source added.
Searches conducted as part of this case led to the seizure of mobile devices, four cell phones, as well as about ten SIM cards and electronic and IT equipment that would have been used in this criminal activity.
The suspects have been placed in police custody at the disposal of the judicial investigation to apprehend other accomplices, the same source added.
