The President of the Spanish Government and Secretary General of the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE), Pedro Sanchez, will fly to Morocco by the end of this week to chair the World Council of the Socialist International, a political international organization consisting mostly of social democratic political parties and labor organizations. The Council is expected to take place on Saturday in Rabat, wrote the Spanish news agency EFE Tuesday on X.
This World Council will be held at the headquarters of Morocco’s Socialist Union of Popular Forces Party (USFP) in Hay Riad, Rabat. A video published on the official website of the Socialist International shows that preparations are underway at the USFP’s headquarters in the Moroccan capital.
It is worth noting that Sanchez was re-elected earlier in December as head of the PSOE. Sanchez has held the same position without interruption since 2017, although he previously held it between 2014 and 2016.
Sanchez last visited Morocco in February. During this official visit he held a meeting with Majesty King Mohammed VI and the head of Government Aziz Akhannouch.
