Air Arabia Maroc inaugurates new route connecting Rabat to Oujda

«Air Arabia Maroc», a leader in low-cost aviation, inaugurated a new direct flight route between Rabat and Oujda on Thursday, January 9. Supported by the Oriental Region, this route aims to enhance air connectivity across Moroccan regions.

The inaugural flight was celebrated in a lively ceremony at Oujda Angad Airport, just before the aircraft's arrival from Rabat-Salé International Airport. The event featured a performance by a «Reggada» band, a popular heritage music of the Oriental region. Notable attendees included Khatib El Hebil, Wali of the Oriental Region, Mohamed Bouarourou, President of the Oriental Regional Council, and Laila Mechbal, General Manager of Air Arabia Maroc. The flight, carrying over 100 passengers, was greeted with a traditional water salute, underscoring the route's significance in bolstering economic and social ties between Rabat and Oujda.

This new route is set to facilitate travel for both business and leisure, strengthening the economic and cultural connections between Rabat, known for its rich administrative and tourist appeal, and Oujda, famed for its captivating landscapes and historic markets.

Laila Mechbal, General Manager of Air Arabia Maroc, expressed her enthusiasm at the route's launch, telling Yabiladi : «The new route will offer three weekly flights operated by Airbus A320 aircraft, each with a capacity of 174 seats. We hope these routes will contribute to tourism development in the Oriental Region and ease travel between the two cities in under 45 minutes».

«Today we welcomed the first Air Arabia flight between Oujda Angad Airport and Rabat, marking the start of regular weekly flights. These flights are part of a partnership agreement between the Oriental Regional Council and Air Arabia», Mohamed Bouarourou, President of the Oriental Regional Council, remarked.

«The Oriental Regional Council has allocated over 24 million dirhams to support this agreement, which includes three flights between Oujda and Rabat, along with two flights between Nador Al Aroui Airport and Rabat. We are confident this initiative will spark a new dynamic in the Oriental Region, positively impacting the economy and tourism», Bouarourou added.

The new weekly flights are scheduled for Tuesdays (Oujda to Rabat at 07:00, arriving at 08:05, and Rabat to Oujda at 08:45, arriving at 09:50), Thursdays (Oujda to Rabat at 16:05, arriving at 17:10, and Rabat to Oujda at 14:15, arriving at 15:20), and Sundays (Oujda to Rabat at 14:25, arriving at 15:30, and Rabat to Oujda at 12:40, arriving at 13:50).

To mark the launch, ticket prices start at 350 dirhams, available through the company's website, mobile app, or authorized agents.
