On Thursday, February 27, Ceuta received its second fish import from Morocco since the reopening of commercial customs between the two countries. A truck carrying approximately 300 kilograms of various fish crossed the border, making this shipment significantly larger than the first, which took place on February 21 and was limited to just 30 kilograms of ray fish.
This latest shipment included ten types of fish, such as salmon, chocos, turbot, dentex, chopito, and ray. According to the government delegation, the initial shipment was small due to legal precautions and concerns about potential spoilage in case of any regulatory issues.
The government delegation emphasized that commercial customs in Ceuta are now a «reality», with trade between Ceuta and Morocco gradually picking up. With this new delivery, the number of official commercial shipments between Morocco and Ceuta has reached three, including a shipment of automotive products sent on February 11.
Currently, permitted imports include fresh fish, fruits, and vegetables, while exports to Morocco consist of health products, machinery, air conditioning units, electrical appliances, and batteries. Authorities have also set a limit of one commercial shipment per day.
