Spain-Morocco joint patrols enhance border security and tackle irregular migration

The Civil Guard Command in Las Palmas, in coordination with the Regional Command of the Royal Gendarmerie in Laayoune, has carried out joint patrols to strengthen security cooperation between the two institutions in border surveillance and security enhancement. This initiative is part of broader efforts to bolster bilateral cooperation between Spain and Morocco in combating cross-border criminal activities.

According to Spanish media, the organization of these patrols was based on intelligence shared between the Civil Guard and the Royal Gendarmerie, with a focus on criminal networks facilitating irregular migration. The main emphasis was on preventing the launch of boats from Moroccan shores, tackling organized crime linked to migration, and targeting facilitators and connections between networks operating in both Spain and Morocco.

This expanding cooperation between Spain and Morocco marks a significant step towards more effective and humane migration management, aiming to enhance border security while safeguarding lives.
