Traffic fines linked to non-compliant license plates, not international format, Ministry clarifies
DR

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics clarified on Monday that recent traffic violation reports involving vehicles with international license plates are not related to their circulation on Moroccan roads, but to plates that fail to meet the specifications set out in the Highway Code.

The ministry explained that these violations concern non-compliant plates that do not conform to the technical standards outlined in Articles 61 and 61-1 of the Highway Code, as detailed in Annexes 12, 13, and 14 of Ministerial Order No. 2711-10 of September 29, 2010, on the registration of motor vehicles and trailers.

It stressed that «these reports in no way concern the circulation of vehicles on national territory with plates in the international format».

To prevent drivers from being fined while traveling in Morocco or abroad, the ministry had already authorized road users wishing to travel outside the country to use the international license plate format, as defined in Annex 13 of the same order. This authorization remains valid until the amendment of Article 28 of the order, currently under review.
