The number of budgetary positions created in Morocco’s education sector between 2021 and 2025 has reached 90,000, Government Spokesperson and Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament Mustapha Baitas said on Thursday.
Speaking at a press conference following the Government Council meeting, Baitas highlighted the significant resources allocated to human capital, notably the implementation of a general salary increase of 1,500 dirhams net, benefiting around 330,000 civil servants, with an overall cost of 9 billion dirhams.
He added that the government has also integrated 115,000 employees from the national education sector into the civil service, introducing a system based on base salary and promotion with retroactive effect, at an estimated cost of 2.4 billion dirhams.
Baitas further stressed that building a social state cannot be achieved without a clear vision for education reform, which is why the government has adopted a comprehensive reform strategy, with a strong focus on human resources.
In this regard, he recalled the various measures taken to implement a deep reform of the system, including the creation of pioneering schools and the revision of key aspects of the reform, notably programs, curricula, and other structural components.
Responding to a question about the National Teachers’ Forum, Baitas said the event, which began on Wednesday, marks an important step through which the government seeks to express its gratitude and recognition to teachers, whom he described as the cornerstone of the education system, in light of their considerable efforts in serving education and youth.
