In Geneva on Monday, Morocco reaffirmed its commitment to protecting mothers from all forms of violence during an interactive dialogue with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls.

The Moroccan delegation stressed the need to strengthen legal, institutional, and social responses to the vulnerabilities many mothers continue to face. It highlighted, in particular, the ongoing reform of the Family Code, which includes several protective measures, such as shared parental authority, the preservation of custody rights after remarriage, and stronger mechanisms to combat domestic violence.

Morocco also presented the Central Unit for Women Victims of Violence, recently established in partnership with UNFPA Morocco, while underscoring the structural challenges faced by single mothers.
