King Mohammed VI presided on Monday at the royal palace in Rabat, a ceremony during which the Moroccan-Nigerian agreement regarding the launching of the Gazoduc and the fertilizers project was signed.
The event was attended by the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama who recalled the King’s last visit to Abuja where he met the Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari. After a few months the two countries have succeeded to launch the implementation of the two bilateral projects, Onyeama explains.
On the other hand the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita has presented the mean characteristics of the Gazoduc project that brings together Morocco and Nigeria and enhances the South-South cooperation.
Bourita also indicated that this mega-project is a concrete example of the new vision that King Mohammed VI holds for Africa. The Morocco-Nigerian pipeline will have a positive impact on the 300 million inhabitants, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added, stating that it will boost electrification projects in western Africa creating by that a competitive regional market of electricity.
Farouq Said Garba, head of the National Nigerian Petroleum (NNPC) Company has mentioned the governance arrangements for the project, the feasibility, the engineering planning for and the rights and obligations put for win-win cooperation.
The ceremony was also attended by the president of the Fertilizer Producers and Suppliers Association of Nigeria (Fepsan), Thomas Ethu, the Managing Director of Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, Uche Orji, and Mustapha Terrab the CEO of OCP croup to discuss the partnership between Morocco and Nigeria.
