Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita tours the al-Aqsa Mosque in al-Quds

Moroccan Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita visited on Tuesday, 27th of March, the al-Aqsa Mosque in Al-Quds, Palestine, reports Israeli online newspaper Jerusalem Post.

During his tour, Bourita was accompanied with director of the Islamic Wakf in Jerusalem Azzam al-Khatib, director of Al-Aqsa Omar al Kiswani, Palestinian Authority Jerusalem Governor Adnan al Husseini and Palestinian Ambassador to Morocco Jamal al-Shobaki.

Speaking to the same source, Kiswani said that Bourita prayed at the site. Meanwhile, Khatib hailed the Moroccan minister’s visit to the mosque which reflects, according to him, «Morocco’s strong support for Jerusalem and its holy sites».

Bourita is the second Arab foreign minister to visit the mosque in the last two months marked by the crisis linked to the US president Donald Trump’s decision regarding the American embassy in Tel Aviv. The Moroccan diplomat is expected to meet, on the same day, the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah.

For the record, Morocco is head of the al-Quds Committee established in the 1990s. As chairman of the organization, King Mohammed was concerned about President Donald Trump’s decision, intending to relocate the American embassy.
