Argentine professional footballer Lionel Messi, who captains both Spanish club Barcelona and the Argentina national team, will not play against the Atlas Lions in March.

According to Argentinian sports outlet TyC Sports, the Barcelona striker will, reportedly, join the Argentina national football team for its friendly with Venezuela on March the 22nd and will go back to Madrid before the team’s match with Morocco.

Quoted by AS, TyC Sports indicates that Lionel Messi «will be called up but will only play in the game in Madrid and not travel to Morocco».

The same source adds that Argentina’s manager Lionel Scaloni will reveal, Thursday, the list of Argentinian players summoned for the two friendlies.

For the record, the Argentinian football team is expected to play two friendlies in the upcoming months, against both Morocco and Venezuela.

The Morocco friendly will be hosted by Tangier on March the 26th, the Moroccan Royal Football Federation announced last week. The match is part of Morocco's preparation for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (CAN-2019), scheduled in Egypt.
