Senior Advisor to US President Donald Trump Jared Kushner was received, Tuesday, at the royal residence in Salé by King Mohammed VI.

The sovereign, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, offered an Iftar in honor of Kushner who is visiting the Kingdom alongside Trump’s special envoy for international negotiations Jason Greenblatt and special Iran envoy Brian Hook.

During this meeting, King Mohammed VI and Kushner held talks on «strengthening the long-standing, solid and multidimensional strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States, as well as on developments in the North Africa and Middle East region», MAP news agency reported.

Tuesday’s Iftar was also attended by the King’s advisor Fouad Ali El Himma and Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita.

A White House official told Associated Press that Kushner’s trip to Morocco is «part of [the Trump’s administration’s] efforts to achieve peace between Israel and the Palestinians».

Indeed, Kushner’s trip to Rabat comes as the United States is expected to soon unveil the economic portion of its peace plan. On May 20th, the White House announced that the capital of Bahrain will host, on June 25 and 26, an international conference on said matter.
