On the night of Friday to Saturday, a young Senegalese called Mouhemad Thiam was stabbed to death, on the way back to his home in the popular district of Errahma, in the suburbs of Casablanca.

The 29-year-old man was going home at around 11 pm after visiting a friend, an associative source told Yabiladi. According to said source, Mouhemad Thiam was allegedly stabbed twice including once in the stomach. Four Moroccans were arrested in relation with the crime, including the alleged murderer.

Following the tragedy, the Senegalese community has planned demonstrations on Saturday morning around 10 am, but these have not occurred, as, according to the aforementioned source, «the police is monitoring the situation closely (…) but the Senegalese community in Casablanca intend to express its anger despite the assurances of the Consul General».

The same source also mentions «clashes in front of the police station of the district» Saturday. The anger expressed by members of the Senegalese community is due, according to them, to «the racist nature of this crime».

For now, the investigation is underway to determine the circumstances and motives of the murder.
