Moroccan-born fashion designer Alber Elbaz launches a new brand

Alber Elbaz, a Moroccan-born fashion designer and former creative director of French multinational high fashion house Lanvin, is launching his new brand AZfashion, Arab News reports.

Born in Casablanca to a Jewish family, Elbaz had an iconic career in the fashion industry, working for Lanvin for 14 years and partnering with big fashions houses, including Richemont, Yoox Net-a-Porter group, Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels.

His new brand is an «innovative and dynamic startup, meant to turn dreams into reality and provide solutions for women of our times», said the same source, quoting a press release.

Elbaz has been known as a brilliant and talented fashion designer around the world. After his family left Morocco for Israel, he studied at the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.

In the 1980s, he went to New York City to start a career in the fashion industry. Elbaz then worked for French house of Guy Laroche and Yves Saint Laurent and collaborated with other companies from the fashion business.
