Morocco joins the PRIMA program for research and innovation

Morocco and the European Union signed, Monday in Brussels, an agreement laying down the conditions and modalities for the Kingdom's participation in the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean area (PRIMA).

This document was signed by Morocco's Ambassador to the European Union Ahmed Rahhou and Director of International Cooperation at the Research and Innovation Directorate General of the European Commission Maria Cristina Russo.

By signing this agreement, Morocco is now part of the 19 countries from the Mediterranean region that benefit from the joint program.

PRIMA is the most ambitious joint program to be undertaken within the frame of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation. It aims to build research and innovation capacities and to develop knowledge and common innovative solutions for agro-food systems, to make them sustainable.

It also seeks to develop integrated water provision and management in the Mediterranean area, to make those systems and that provision and management more climate resilient, efficient, cost-effective and environmentally and socially sustainable, and to contribute to solving water scarcity, food security, nutrition, health, well-being and migration problems upstream.
