A heartfelt tribute was paid, Sunday evening, to Moroccan poet Ismail Zouirik, during the opening ceremony of the 18th Sharjah Arab Poetry Festival.
The tribute paid to the Moroccan poet, alongside Emirati poet Talal Salem Al-Sabri, is a recognition of his active role on the Arab poetic and intellectual scene and his distinguished and prolific poetic work.
The opening ceremony of the festival was marked by the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and Governor of Sharjah, in addition to Arab figures from the culture sphere and more than 40 poets and critics from several Arab countries.
On this occasion, the Moroccan poet gave a variety of poetry readings, and a documentary on Sharjah's efforts to serve poetry and poets in the United Arab Emirates and the Arab world was screened.
