Once again, Sweden voted against the fisheries agreement signed between Morocco and the European Commission. The country reacted in the same way to the agreement concluded in 2011.
More than 20 NGOs and pro-Polisario bodies operating in the Sahara and the Tindouf camps urged the European Parliament, Tuesday, to vote against the fisheries agreement. On the same day in Brussels, the Committee of Permanent Representatives voted in favor of the treaty concluded between Morocco and European Commission.
For Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita Rabat is not interested in building asylum centers on its territory. His rejection was voiced earlier this year by the Kingdom's migration and border surveillance director who sees the EU's plan as a bad idea.
The European Union is raising worries about the surge in migrant arrivals, citing the lowered guard in Morocco. The kingdom, on the other hand, says it lacks financial support to stop the growing trend.
